Contract: Deta-Vast – 12 months initial contract with the possibility to go permanent after
Location: Mostly remote – Office location is Amstelveen 1 day onsite weekly.
Language skills: Fluent speaking in English and Dutch

Role description
The Senior Platform Engineer identifies and delivers effective solutions to problems arising with reusable infrastructure and applications, ranging from simple error clearing to complex issues requiring root cause analysis through diagnostics data collection. Working with other software teams to detect, solve, and implement changes to improve performance and functionality.

Responsibilities:

• Actively support the Portfolio Owner for Platform Engineering in designing and implementing the technical architecture of a platform, ensuring it meets organizational needs while adhering to best practices in scalability, reliability, and security.

• Automating infrastructure management and providing developers with self-service tools and workflows from a centrally managed technology platform to reduce cognitive load and streamline software delivery.

• Build and maintain Internal Developer Platforms (IDPs) that supports seamless software delivery systems, collaborating with developers and senior management to ensure the infrastructure is reliable and scalable.
  

Common customer related restrictions:

• Must be screened by AIVD (Dutch homeland security)

• Must live in The Netherlands

• Must speak/write/read Fluent Dutch

The soft skills must haves:

• Ability to work independently and take decisions where necessary.

• Good communication skills towards team and customer.

• High level of analytical thinking is a must for problem solving in our complex environment.

• Can create, read, and adjust documentation.

Hard skills must haves:

• Experience writing Infrastructure-as-Code for public cloud (preferably Terraform, preferably multi-cloud experience)

• Mastery of at least one programming language (e.g. Go, Python)

• Experience setting up pipelines as code (e.g. GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Azure Pipelines)

• Experience working closely with application teams and using development tools (e.g. Gradle, dotnet, npm)

• Knowledge of Kubernetes / Red Hat OpenShift

• Experience with AWS, Azure or GCP

Nice to have skills:

• Knowledge and experience with GitOps

• Experience building Internal Developer Platforms

• Experience with OpenTelemetry

• Experience with managing private cloud platforms

• Knowledge of Scrum/Agile
